Social media activism

Social media is not just about communication and entertainment, it is a lever of influence, a source of information, it is our reality. I chose the topic of „Social media activism“ to highlight the fact that each of us has an influence on the world around us, and social media gives us the opportunity to be heard.

Social media usage

I chose this topic because it was very interesting for me to find out why people use social media continuously and what factors influence or motivate them. I also found it very interesting that this research focuses on continuous social media use and not on addiction or problematic use, like many other researches, showing the perspective of an average user.

Influencer marketing

I chose this topic because it’s something I was kind of indirectly interested in. I never really thought about influencer marketing as a field on its own—but I’ve always known it plays a huge role if you want to be successful in areas like social media marketing or branding. Once I started looking into it, I realized how many layers there are—especially when culture comes into play. That made it really exciting to dig deeper and see how trust, values, and strategy change depending on where someone comes from.

Social networks

The reason why I chose my topic was because I was intrigued by the analysis of the tweets and the categorization. Due to the fact that this study summed up data from 17 different countries I picked out two to be able to compare them directly with one another. I chose Germany and Indonesia which was a great choice, since the results between those countries was very different from one another.

Social media & Consumption

I chose to explore the topic of social media’s influence on consumer spending behavior because it reflects a powerful and current reality that affects us all, especially my own generation. Social media has transformed not only how we communicate, but also how we make purchasing decisions—often without realizing it. I was particularly intrigued by the cross-cultural comparison between the U.S. and South Korea, which shows how cultural values shape financial habits in the digital age. This topic allowed me to combine interests in psychology, marketing, and social trends.

Fake news

I chose the topic "Fake News in Social Media" because misinformation is one of the most relevant and pressing issues in today’s digital world. Social media platforms like Instagram make it easy for fake news to spread quickly, and I believe it’s important to raise awareness about this problem.
What interested me most about the article was the cultural comparison between Greece and Portugal. I enjoy learning about different cultures, and this study gave me the chance to explore how cultural backgrounds influence the way people deal with fake news. I also have a personal interest in both countries – I really appreciate their unique cultures, people, and lifestyle.
Overall, this topic allowed me to combine my interest in global issues, cultural understanding, and digital media – which made it the perfect choice for my presentation.#

Social media addiction

I chose this topic because social media is a huge part of our daily lives, and I wanted to understand how it affects people differently around the world. I was especially interested in how cultural values might influence social media addiction, beyond just individual habits. Comparing collectivist and individualistic societies offers valuable insights into why some communities struggle more with excessive use. This research can help create better, culturally aware solutions to support healthier social media habits.
